A Trip to The Joie of Seating: Finding the Perfect Race Seat for Landon.

What started as a simple equipment purchase turned into an unforgettable experience for both Landon and me.

We made the trip down to Charlotte to visit The Joie of Seating in search of an ARCA race seat for Landon. Normally, custom race seats take anywhere from 7–10 weeks to build, so we were prepared for a bit of a wait. But as it turned out, the owner, Randy LaJoie had a seat in stock that looked promising right from the start.

Even with Landon’s measurements in hand, we knew there was only one real way to be sure—it had to be tested in person. So we loaded up the Tahoe and hit the road.

Although the shop is typically open Monday through Friday, Randy went above and beyond by meeting us on a Saturday morning. That alone spoke volumes about his commitment. Once we arrived, he took the time to carefully evaluate how Landon fit into the seat. After a thorough look, he determined it only needed a few small tweaks to the headrest. With precise calculations, he mapped out exactly what adjustments were needed.

The best part? We didn’t have to wait weeks. We were able to take the seat home with us that same day. Within a week, Randy had the headrest adjusted, powder coated, and the belts installed before shipping everything back to us.

The end result: ultimate safety and a fit that feels like it was made just for Landon.

But beyond the seat itself, what really made the trip special was the experience inside the shop. There’s an incredible amount of racing history within those walls. Randy shared stories about The Joie of Seating and his family’s deep roots in racing. We could have listened to him all day.

One of the coolest moments was hearing about the shop’s past—Randy pointing out marks and holes in the walls made years ago by kids racing Big Wheels inside, including Joey Logano, his son Corey, and others. It’s not just a shop—it’s a place filled with passion, legacy, and stories that bring racing history to life.

All in all, it was more than just picking up a race seat. It was a reminder of how special this sport is—the people, the stories, and the dedication to doing things the right way.

We’re grateful for the experience and couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Visit them at www.thejoieofseating.com Thanks Randy!
