Kansas Speedway Test a Success — Nashville Race Up Next
Landon’s first laps in a Kimmel Racing Ford Mustang are officially in the books—and they did not disappoint.
On a windy day at Kansas Speedway, Landon took on the challenge of a mile-and-a-half track for the first time. With the speed, aerodynamics, and feel of an ARCA car all being new, this test marked a major step forward in his racing career—and the realization of a lifelong dream.
From the moment he rolled onto the track, Landon showed speed and composure. Thanks to the strong preparation of the car and the guidance of Will Kimmel and Bill Kimmel, he was competitive right out of the gate. As the day progressed, continued coaching helped refine his line, improve his comfort in traffic, and steadily lower his lap times.
Like any meaningful test, there was a learning moment.
Midway through the session, a brief miscommunication placed Landon in an awkward position, resulting in a spin between Turns 3 and 4. Fortunately, there was no damage—just a flat set of tires and a valuable lesson gained. After regrouping in the pits, reviewing the situation with the team, and bolting on a fresh set of tires, Landon returned to the track focused and unfazed.
The response was exactly what you want to see.
He went right back to work, logging more laps, improving his consistency, and continuing to build confidence with every run.
By the end of the day, Landon recorded the 13th fastest time out of 28 cars. While the raw speed was impressive, what stood out most was his ability to rebound from adversity and maintain consistent lap times throughout his runs—an encouraging sign as he transitions into competition.
Next Stop: Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway
